I logged in while the class was in session. The
student didn't know I was there. The teacher could see the message that I was there, but if he noticed he didn't show it.
Yesterday, the little boy was a wiggle-worm. Mr. B. kept having to call his name to refocus his attention. Today the little boy was paying attention but he got sidetracked. His voice would fade in and out. Finally the teacher asked what was going on. Michael said, "I was just wondering where my microphone is." Mr. B. said, "Your microphone is on your computer. Oh, you want to do that. You can hold the microphone if you want to." Michael had plugged in a hand-held microphone. Mr. B.said,"You can hold the microphone like you are on a game show."
Then he dropped his voice at least one octave and went into radio announcer mode. "Welcome to the Mr. B show. Michael you are the next contestant."
The rest of the lesson went like that. He never left character and never stopped teaching. At the end of the lesson he was telling Michael goodbye and Michael interrupted him. "What did you say, Michael?" "Do I get the big prize?" Mr. B laughed and said, "Yes, you get the big prize." I don't remember what he said, but Michael was satisfied.
This teacher really enjoys teaching. He sat thousands of miles from his student, but was able to engage him in a teaching activity and have fun also.
